Tapping into high-agency mode didn’t just help, it was life-saving.
high agency mode vs low agency mode in facing job search challenges.
Successfully navigating a strategic pivot or transition means reclaiming time and flexibility.
At the same time, it requires high-agency to lead the change with clarity and ownership.
Ever since experiencing serious burnout, for what felt like years. Honestly, I lost track of how long I was overwhelmed by negative thoughts that popped in my mind and blocked my ability to truly sense and appreciate how lucky I was. Walking away from burnout can take much longer than initially imagined far beyond what most would consider “normal.”
Taking ownership of life and pursuing long-held dreams without waiting for external validation or permission can shift everything.
High agency mode
High agency mode is a mindset and behavioural pattern where a person takes full ownership and proactive control over their outcomes regardless of external limitations or obstacles.
When you're in high agency mode, you're not just reacting to life or work you're actively shaping it.
Key Traits of High Agency Mode
You believe problems are solvable and that you can solve them (or figure out how)
You take initiative without waiting for permission, instruction, or ideal conditions
You navigate constraints creatively instead of being blocked by them
You stay in motion building, testing, iterating, shipping
You challenge “this is how it’s done” and create new paths if needed
You own your results success or failure and you reflect, adapt, and move again
Low Agency vs. High Agency Example
Situation: Can't find a job
Low agency: "The market is bad"
High agency: "I’ll reposition my story, improve visibility, and pitch directly"
What It Feels Like
You ask “How can I make this work?” instead of “Why isn’t this working?”
You default to action over overthinking
You see yourself as a creator of momentum, not a passive receiver of circumstances
Why It Matters (especially in AI, startups, and careers):
In fast-moving environments (like tech, AI, and modern careers),
high agency people:
Learn faster
Earn trust more quickly
Create more opportunities
Stand out — because they own outcomes instead of just completing tasks

Situation: Not skilled in AI
Low agency: "I'm not technical"
High agency: "I'll learn enough to experiment and create value quickly"
When High-Agency Becomes Life-Saving: A Journey Through Transition
For me, high-agency has been life-saving—helping me navigate numerous challenges during my current life and work transitions, while reclaiming time and flexibility to finally spend more time on the things that were once just items on a dream list:
Painting as a lifelong fan of art and creativity. (PS: I’m planning to share my work online under an art name that likely no one will recognise… but it holds a hidden meaning)
Writing, which I began sharing publicly in 2024 through blogs and social platforms, something I never did outside of work before.
Running daily, at least 6–7 km, which sparks countless ideas that I later added to my writing, business strategy and even painting.
Travelling, with a deeper approach spending extended time in places I love to reflect, explore, and immerse myself in new inspiration and creativity.
For example, I flew between the UK and Asia three times in four months, Japan, Singapore, Taiwan (Total 80 hours on planes!)Most importantly, I’ve gained greater clarity in myself, my work, and my business now truly aligned with my ideal lifestyle, enabling me to make strategic shifts toward more sustainable growth.

I was feeling incredibly stressed by a mistake and misalignment I had made just before my departure to Taiwan for a three-week stay and mindfulness journey. It cost me quite a bit, mentally and emotionally.
Cultivating high-agency mode has helped me navigate many challenges in life, business, and relationships.
High-agency mode came from self-awareness through mistake, practice, reflection, and hard-earned lessons.
If a recent mistake taught me anything, it’s this:
I once gave the right solution to the wrong client.
Alignment comes with a cost.
Right before my departure to Taiwan for a three-week stay and mindfulness journey, I was feeling incredibly stressed by a mistake and misalignment I had made. It cost me mentally and emotionally.
But over time, I’ve become much stronger at cultivating high-agency mode, which has helped me navigate complex challenges in life, business, and relationships.
High-agency mode was developed through self-awareness shaped by mistakes, practice, reflection, and hard-earned lessons.
If a recent mistake taught me anything, it’s this: I once gave the right solution to the wrong client. That realisation hit me during an AI automation coaching session with a leader I support.
And then things start to get shifted: as It was an ah-ha moment followed closely by a woo-hoo moment when I later gave the right solution to the right person. The result is positive. aligned. mutual and absolutely delightful.
How to “be ready” for pivots and transitions?
There is never a perfect moment to be ready
Just start, and grow into it.
Not ready first. It’s do it, launch, maintain the consistency, reflect, learn, and refine.
Here’s my way:
Just start, and grow into it.
Not “ready” first. Do it. Launch. Stay consistent. Reflect. Learn. Refine. When things felt heavy, I paused.
I let myself feel every emotion fully.
I journaled. I painted (yes, I love painting!). I read. I meditated.I didn’t rush to “fix” anything. But I stayed aware of the failures, the mistakes.
I reflected.
I reached out for advice from mentors I trust.
I travelled, for a temple stay, an art exhibition. For example, I flew to Taiwan to reconnect with myself, to recharge, to create space to think clearly again.
Then, something shifted.
I shared the same solution with the right person.
The difference? Alignment. Timing. Relevance.
It just clicked.
That moment reminded me of the power of operating high-agency mode is so crucial throughout the journey.
It’s not just a mindset. It’s a muscle. I’ve been training this specific muscle, that is helping me in building:
“I own this.
I’m not a victim of my circumstances.
I will figure it out, no matter what.”
It’s taking equal responsibility for failure and success.
And now I’m back, stronger, clearer, and more committed than ever in helping mutiply results in transitions in career, leadership and income growth.
If you're ready to fast-track your pivot, growth, and become your most aligned self, join me.
If not, ask yourself, what’s really holding you back?
You don’t have to be fully “ready” to begin.
Start, and grow into it.
